Murat Kocabas is a photographer who documents rights violations, nature massacres, earthquakes and increasing violence.


He studied Journalism and Reporting at Iskenderun Technical University in Hatay, Turkey. He was introduced to photography through his department and immediately started taking photos in the field.


In 2021, he started freelance photojournalism and a year later he started working for various agencies and his work started to be published internationally.


In 2022 he joined DEPO Photos as a freelancer. In 2023, he started giving photos to SOPA Images and Middle East Images. He continues to work for magazines or newspapers from time to time.


His photographs have been published by TIME magazine, The Guardian, Le Monde, The Times, Financial Times, Die Zeit, Der Spiegel and others.


Kocabas is currently freelancing and living in Izmir, Turkey.
